Functions

Clamping

The DuraVision is equipped with two clamping jaws each, which ensure that the specimens are securely fixed and provide a stable hold during the test. In the case of complex specimen shapes, it is possible to either test with just one clamping jaw or even manage without any clamping at all.

CHD, NHD, SHD test

Create your CHD, NHD or SHD series according to exact dimensions using the grid in the test point editor. Then place your rows on your specimen. Positioning in the image is supported with the evaluation camera, the overview camera and in the panorama view. For NHD measurements, core hardness points can be defined separately.

Serial measurements

The test point editor provides user-friendly support for creating test points with exact distances between them. It is also possible to configure rows directly on the specimen by using the evaluation camera, the overview camera or the panorama function. The points in the image can be defined just by clicking. Furthermore, tools for lines or polygons enable automatic distribution of the test points. Depending on the respective application, the distances to the specimen edges or between the test points are determined precisely in accordance with standards or internal company test specifications.

User management

The ecos Workflow operating software makes it possible to determine and specifically control the activities for certain user groups. Individual user rights can be defined with the help of user levels. It is possible to create any number of user levels with different rights and customise them at any time. All available rights can be easily assigned to the desired user level with the help of a rights editor. The users are then assigned to the appropriate user level that can, if necessary, be additionally protected by means of a password. This ensures that only authorised users can perform a measurement with the required test method or can amend machine settings.

Panorama view

Create a panoramic view of your specimen by photographing the specimen surface using the high-resolution overview camera. The individual images are then combined to create a high-resolution panoramic image. Test points and test rows can be placed directly in the panoramic image. The live image from the evaluation camera is also displayed as an overlay in the offline image. This allows for critical points to be analysed more precisely. The stitching function makes it possible for the the analysing camera to superimpose large-scale detailed images onto the panorama. There are no limits to the appropriate view for your specimen.

Overview camera

The optional overview camera for our fully automatic macro hardness testers provides a large live image of your specimen. The 12 Mpx colour camera facilitates the setting of test points and the positioning of complex progression series. The overview camera also enables the creation of large-scale panoramic images of the entire test bench.

Polyline

You can use the polyline to draw contours, surfaces or specific paths on the specimen. Distribute any number of test points on the line using different distribution options. You can also place test points via an offset or fill drawn areas with a large number of points. Each line can be saved as a template, providing you with quick help in the test cycle.

Reference lines

The ecos LINEplus software module contains a set of line tools that support you in positioning test points and rows on your specimen according to exact dimensional specifications. Lengths and angles are defined for your specimen. All start and end points have a snap function for their test points, Reference lines and polylines (LINK) can be edited at any time and saved as a template, including all test points.

Automatic detection of specimen edges

ecos AUTOROW enables the automatic fine positioning of test series at the specimen edge. This significantly increases the efficiency of the fully automatic hardness tester. It allows row start points pre-positioned in the overview camera to be placed automatically at the specimen edge. The edge is detected automatically and precisely in the measuring camera image, the row is shifted according to its alignment and then aligned at right angles to the specimen edge. It makes no difference here whether the row has been positioned slightly outside or inside the specimen edge. The function is ideal for use in combination with predefined specimens. Since all test series are predefined, it only remains for the specimen to be aligned on the specimen using the specimen reference point in the live overview screen. Fine positioning is performed automatically by mouse click – with ecos AUTOROW.

Different specimen heights

Even simultaneous serial testing of multiple specimens with different specimen heights presents no problem at all for the DuraVision G5, whether with or without clamping jaws.

Hardness mapping

This software option provides efficient support for the automation of complex hardness tests. It is particularly useful if you want to arrange a large number of test points on a specific surface or along the edge of the specimen. The integrated hardness map, which provides a coloured representation of the hardness distribution on the tested surfaces, enables optimum visualisation of the results. Even large amounts of data, such as hardness values and coordinates of the individual test points, are processed clearly and comprehensibly.

Testing of identical parts

The DuraVision G5 demonstrates its full strength when it comes to testing multiple specimens with the same test requirements. Even simultaneous serial testing of multiple specimens with different specimen heights presents no problem at all for the DuraVision G5, whether with or without clamping jaws.

Single measurement

The software of your hardness tester guides you step by step through the testing process. Once you have determined the method, use the live image to find a suitable position for your individual measurement. The test cycle starts in just a few clicks and the generated values are saved in a test point list. Bar charts and statistics provide useful information on the quality of your specimens.

Variable clamping force

Thanks to the patented design of the Z-axle, the optimum clamping force can be flexibly set in the software depending on the size of the specimen and the material. This makes it possible to securely clamp even complex specimens by selecting a high clamping force. The risk of marks on soft materials can be avoided by selecting a correspondingly lower clamping force.

Test benches

Various test benches are available to ensure a smooth testing process depending on the size and shape of your specimens. With the right test bench, hardness testing on brake discs, valves, pipes, balls or engine blocks can be carried out effortlessly. Thanks to the practical plug-in system, all test benches can be exchanged quickly and easily.

Collision detection

All our DuraLine machines are equipped with collision detection as standard. This has been developed to ensure your safety and the functionality of your machine. It recognises potential collisions to prevent damage to your machine. With this advanced technology, we minimise the risk of unexpected damage that could lead to significant repair costs or downtime.

Bright LED test area lighting

Precise positioning of the test points even under difficult lighting conditions thanks to dimmable LEDs.

The calibration assistant of ecos Workflow CIS

The calibration assistant of ecos Workflow CIS integrated into the test software as standard, comprehensively supports you in the test of all the calibrated methods of your hardness tester required by the standards. This intelligent assistant proactively informs you about upcoming checks and always keeps you up to date on the current status of the calibrated methods. It also guides you systematically through the entire test cycle and helps with the complete documentation of all tests carried out. Thanks to these functions, the calibration assistant facilitates simple and efficient handling and compliance with all relevant quality and safety standards.

Remeasuring

The automated test point evaluation uses a complex algorithm to precisely analyse test points. Depending on the surface quality, the test method used and the material, it may become necessary to re-measure a test point. With the help of ecos workflows, all test points can be re-measured or alternatively analysed with a different lens. If the indentation cannot be analysed due to inclusions, cavities or other impurities, it can be replaced by a new test point.

Lens with Brinell SmartLight

The Brinell hardness test has always represented a challenge with soft metals and difficult surfaces. Particularly with soft materials, the edges are not always perfectly recognisable due to considerable deformation (bulging) around the indentation. The new lenses with the innovative Brinell SmartLight now ensure ideal lighting and allow better recognisability of the test indentation during Brinell tests. The lenses with Brinell SmartLight are available as 2.5x and 5x lenses. The SmartLight technology developed by EMCO-TEST combines a lens with "collimated light". With this lighting, parallel light beams are directed by a mirror system onto the test indentation. The light therefore strikes the indent perpendicularly from above and prevents any shadowing in the area of the bulge. The contour is clearly recognisable and the indentation can be precisely evaluated. The SmartLight technology is permanently integrated into the lens and requires no further settings by the operator.

Evaluation camera

A high-resolution 12 Mpix colour camera is used to evaluate your test indentations. The images can be viewed in three freely selectable zoom levels without any loss of quality. This technological solution allows a wide range of applications to be covered with a small number of lenses. During evaluation, focus and exposure are fully automatic. It only takes one mouse click from the start of the test to the analysed result.

Measurement data management

Plan your test in advance and create a separate measurement data group for each specimen. By selecting a group, your test results are stored separately for you and collected in lists. Use grouped measurement data management to assign test data to individual users, user groups, specimens, batches or departments.

QR code function

This function allows the user to create QR codes with all the relevant data necessary for the hardness test, such as test method, lens, etc., and to also print these out, if necessary. In addition, any QR code or bar code of existing identification codes on specimens or dockets can be assigned to any stored template. This code can be read in using an interfaced bar code scanner. The assigned data are then automatically loaded and the test can be carried out immediately. The test procedure can thus be accelerated and operator errors reduced.

Template function (semi-automatic)

Save frequently used parameters as a template. Methods, test loads, conversions and geometric corrections can be imported quickly after loading your template. Specimens that have already been measured can also be used as a template. This significantly reduces the time required and possible operating errors when working with your semi-automatic hardness tester.

Patented Z-axle with rapid traverse

Time saving during adjustment to different specimen heights thanks to the rapid traverse speeds of up to 25 mm/s.
