Following the publication and entry into force of the ISO standards for Knoop ISO 4545 2017-12 and Vickers ISO 6507 2018-01, the corresponding DIN EN ISO standards are expected from June 2018.

According to the published changes, among other things, diagonal lengths lower than 20 µm are no longer compliant with standards. As a result, the limits of standard compliant testing in lower load ranges are severely restricted (e.g. hardness measurements greater than 316 HV 0,05 are not standard compliant any longer). This will impact the calibration capability of some hardness testing methods in lower load ranges.
