Vickers method, minimum specimen thickness

In order to prevent the test base (e.g. the test anvil) from affecting the test result in any way, a minimum specimen thickness must be observed with the Vickers method (acc. to ISO 6507).

This minimum specimen thickness (in mm) must be 1.5 times the average diagonal length of the indentation and can be taken from the graph below.
