VRM annual conference

The fact that Austria as a business location is a world market leader was demonstrated impressively by Klaus Reisinger, Managing Director of EMCO-TEST Prüfmaschinen GmbH, using the example of the Kuchl-based company at the Austrian regional media conference. Under the banner of "we are all one economy", the Austrian Regional Media Association (VRM) welcomed attendees to its annual conference in Vienna. The Austrian regional media have set themselves the goal for 2015 of raising awareness of the importance of the Austrian economy through "proximity creates credibility" and best-practice examples of the trade multiplier effect. In line with tradition, three top-class speakers were invited to the conference. Federal Minister of Finance Hans Jörg Schelling lectured on subject of "Austria in the economic slow lane" – the new tax reform is a first step towards securing prosperity, pensions and health provision for future generations. Following Finance Minister Hans Jörg Schelling, the next speaker was Klaus Reisinger: Austria is a "niche world champion" and, even though EMCO-TEST is one of these niche companies, a product alone is no longer sufficient to assure economic success. With the help of its "360° Full Service Competence", EMCO-Test Prüfmaschinen GmbH has notched up 60 years of international market success, something not to be taken for granted in the face of changing purchasing and purchaser behaviour, higher willingness to change supplier and higher quotation transparency. Finally, General Director of national broadcaster ORF, Alexander Wrabetz, shone a light on Austria as a media location, emphasising the need to reflect on strengths such as regionality and locality in the competition for every advertising euro or dollar. Also due to the increasing shift to the online and mobile sectors, both ORF and the regional media must rise to the challenge of utilising these new channels effectively.
