The integrated Export Editor considerably simplifies the export and storage of hardness testing data. The measurement data to be exported can not only be individually adapted but also stored fully automatically in a defined directory after every measurement. Furthermore, it is possible to export the images of the hardness test indents.

This automatic export of measurement data together with images ensures that all important information on a hardness test are reliably saved and can be easily traced back.

Whether with the standard ecos Workflow form or company-specific test report – the flexible and extremely convenient form and report generator allows you to prepare your own reports to document the test results. Your own company logo, individual fields for specimen designations and various diagrams can be integrated into the test report.

The integrated TeamViewer considerably simplifies communication between the users and the service team. The integrated TeamViewer is predominantly used for maintenance and diagnostics of the ecos Workflow software. Furthermore, TeamViewer can be used to train users and to share tips and tricks.

An important factor for the precision of the test result is the measurement of the test indent. Exact results can only be guaranteed on clearly recognisable test indents with optimum contrast and optimal brightness conditions. The camera electronics control the image conditions independently of the operator and thus ensure optimum recognisability. Particularly when testing unpolished surfaces, this function is a precondition for an automatic, operator-independent detection of the indent.

The use of templates significantly reduces the work for the operator and increases the safety and efficiency of the testing process. All settings for the hardness test, such as test method, lens, conversion factors, etc. can be stored as templates and loaded again whenever required.

The ecos Workflow Calibration Information System (CIS) is an innovative solution that makes it possible to check for yourself whether your hardness testing machine conforms to the standards. The system provides you with an overview of calibrated methods and informs you of any upcoming verifications. The user is then guided step by step through the verification procedure. A documentation system ensures that the verification conforms to standards and manages the results.

The ecos Workflow CIS operating software offers the possibility of selectively and individually controlling user rights by means of user levels. Any number of user levels with different rights can be created and changed at any time. All available rights can be very easily assigned to the desired user level with the help of a rights editor. The users are then assigned to the user level that can, if necessary, be additionally protected by means of a password. This ensures that only authorised users can perform a measurement with the required test method or can change machine settings. 

A measurement data group can be created and selected before the test. All test results are collected in separate lists, allowing them to be represented clearly, exported or saved as a report at any time. Use grouped measurement data management to assign test data to individual users or user groups, components, batches or departments. In addition, frequently used test parameters can be assigned to the measurement data group in the form of templates (method, conversion, geometric correction). This significantly reduces the amount of work for the operator and the possibility of incorrect operation.

Keep distance!
What we call Range Master is for you a helpful tool for displaying the maximum impression size. Furthermore the distance between the individual impressions during series measurements can be optimally determined with this innovative aid. When positioning the measuring points, you just have to make sure that the red circles around the impression do not overlap. The red circle represents the diameter of the impression multiplied by three and has thus already calculated the minimum distance. Particularly useful is the Range Master for test parts, on which only very little space is available and for the testing of welds. This feature is included for free in the new ecos Workflow Software!

Meaningful multitasking!
What has the Second Screen feature in common with multitasking? We will explain: Connect a second screen to the computer of your hardness testing machine and use it to display the panorama overview. The second screen makes it possible to work simultaneously with the live view and the panorama overview. This immensely simplifies the positioning of test points! This feature can be downloaded from the new ecos Workflow software.

In the standard version, a specimen can be created and automatically measured with several test series. The functions required for this are provided in a clearly arranged toolbar. The optional “ecos Workflow Multi-specimen” software module allows several specimens (for example, 12 embedded specimens in two 6-way specimen holders) to each be measured fully automatically with several test series.

Complicated workpieces and testing requirements pose challenges for some customers. Nevertheless, the testing process must be handled as efficiently and precisely as possible. Custom specimen holders and clamping fixtures therefore form part of the range of many test laboratories with complex requirements. With the new "user-defined specimen holder" function, we offer you the option to depict your own specimen holders or workpieces in clamping fixtures.

The integrated drawing tools allow rectangles, circles and polygons to be constructed using precise coordinates. The specimen holder you have created is depicted in the overview camera and the panorama view. Navigation between the specimens is much easier. Positioning of specimen parameters, such as pre-programmed CHD series, is possible for each specimen by drag & drop. Complexity is tested easily and reliably in this way.

The areaMaster is a convenient assistant when it comes to automated solutions for complex hardness testing tasks. It supports laboratory users wishing to position a large number of test points on a defined surface or along the edge of the specimen. The integrated hardness map – a colour display of the hardness distribution on surfaces – ensures the optimum visualisation of your results. Even large volumes of information, such as hardness values and coordinates of the test points, are shown clearly Because logic, transparency and very simple operation are hallmarks of all software developments from EMCO-TEST. The areaMaster is integrated into the ecos Workflow operating software and guarantees ease of operation as well as offering extensive export possibilities.

The optional ecos AUTOROW module leads to an even more efficient operation of the fully automatic DuraScan and DuraVision hardness testers.

Row start points (pre-positioned in the overview camera) are positioned automatically by the evaluation camera at right angles to the specimen edge.

This allows, for example, predefined test samples with multiple rows to be aligned fast and precisely at the specimen edge.

The optional Jominy module offers the possibility of testing up to six specimens fully automatically and of determining their hardening depth. The Jominy software module guides you through the test procedure and ensures a standard-compliant test in accordance with EN ISO 642 and ASTM A255-07. The test point editor allows not only standard-compliant test procedures, but also user-defined tests to be carried out. The result of the Jominy test is recorded and documented in a standard-compliant measurement report with hardness curve.

The optional ecos LINEplus module contains additional line tools for positioning test points and rows according to dimension requirements.

Lengths and angles can be measured and drawn easily with the new reference line functions.

Furthermore, the created reference lines can subsequently be processed and a snap function can be used to accurately position additional reference lines, polylines, row start points or test points at the end points.

The extended polyline in addition enables multiple offsets and can subsequently be changed and adapted to specimens.

Are you able to make patience measurable? Honestly, we do not either, but patience is often needed, especially when measuring crack lengths. With ecos FRACTURE, the crack length of ceramic materials and carbide metals can be determined with ease. In addition, the software module calculates the fracture toughness of the material according to the Palmqvist method (ISO 28079). ecos FRACTURE is available as an option. Get the feature before you lose patience during hardness measurement!

EASY PLACEMENT OF TEST ROWS ON GEAR GRINDINGS
With ecos gearMASTER, a new function for all fully automatic DuraScan machines, the placement of test rows on gear wheel specimen is child's play. The core hardness points as well as the pre-defined course series are set at drawn 30° tangents at the tooth root and at half the height of the tooth. With the standard wide test-load range of DuraScan G5 from 10 g to 62.5 kg, all common specifications can be covered in one operation. Using templates, testing can be done quickly, efficiently, and reproducibly. The tool complies with the current guidelines for the stress-appropriate testing of teeth of a gearwheel and is available as a separate feature of ecos Workflow software.  

With the ecos pipeMASTER software module, seamless, welded pipes and pipe segments can be easily and quickly tested for hardness. ecos pipeMASTER fullfils all requirements for hardness testing on oil and gas transport systems according to the valid standards of the American Petroleum Institute (API). For the DuraVision G5, we recommend the use of Z63 nose cone insert for star turret, closed on one side. 

With the ecos image Master function, surfaces that are difficult to recognise can be better displayed and made visible. The functions of this software module allow extensive influence on the live image by adjusting the image settings. Brightness, contrast, sharpness and saturation can be fine-tuned.  In addition, it is possible to display only certain colour spectra. The processed image can be exported to Olympus Stream for further metallographic processing. 

Olympus Stream Desktop is an extensible image processing software for microscopy applications in industry and materials science. The software includes the following functions: advanced phase analysis, basic measurement functions (distance, angles, rectangles, circles, etc.), statistics and data export to Microsoft Excel, advanced measurements (magic wand, freehand polygon and interpolated polygon), report generation with Microsoft Word or Excel.

This solution is used to manually measure the ferritic or austenitic grain sizes of steel. It provides a single averaged value using the various standards available. (ASTM E112-13, ASTM E1382-97(2015), ISO 643:2012, GOST 5639-82, JIS G0551:2013, JIS G0552:1998, DIN 50601:1985, GB/T 6394:2002). Requires OLYMPUS Stream Desktop.

With this solution it is easy to perform asymmetry, multiple perpendicular lines and a fillet measurements, for a detailed and quantifiable measurement of the weld sample. These measurements are important to assess the quality of the weld. Requires OLYMPUS Stream Desktop.

The measurement results in Q-DAS ASCII transfer format are exported with freely definable assignment of the K-fields and can be further processed.
